Terms of Service

Effective: April 18, 2026

Thanks for choosing Kingdom. These terms describe what you can expect from us and what we expect from you. We've done our best to keep them readable. If something's unclear, email us at rickhopkins@melodic.dev and we'll explain.

"Kingdom," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the operator of thekingdomnow.com and its related products (Gather, Haven, and Waypoint). "You" and "your" refer to the person or organization accepting these terms and the church or ministry you represent.

1. What Kingdom provides

Kingdom offers church management software delivered over the internet. Today that's Gather. Additional products (Haven and Waypoint) may be offered later under these same terms.

We'll do our best to keep the service running reliably and secure. We'll deploy fixes and improvements regularly. We don't guarantee uninterrupted availability, but we don't take outages lightly.

2. Your account

To use Kingdom, you create an account and a church workspace. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect someone else is using it.

You can add additional users (staff, pastors, volunteers) with specific roles and permissions. The person who created the church is the Church Admin by default and remains responsible for the account.

You must be at least 18 years old and authorized to act on behalf of your church or organization to accept these terms.

3. Acceptable use

Please don't use Kingdom to:

  • Break any law or harm anyone
  • Send spam, phishing, or deceptive messages
  • Upload malware, scan for vulnerabilities, or interfere with the service
  • Resell, sublicense, or copy the software
  • Use the service to compete directly with Kingdom
  • Misrepresent who you are or what your organization does

We reserve the right to suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, with notice when practical and without notice when harm is imminent.

4. Your data

Your data belongs to you. That includes your member directory, donation records, messages, documents, and anything else you put in Kingdom. We store and process it to run the service for you — that's it. We don't sell it, we don't share it with advertisers, and we don't use it to train AI models outside of features you explicitly opt into.

You can export your data at any time in standard formats (CSV for most tables). If you cancel, we'll keep your data accessible for 30 days so you can export it, then delete it permanently.

Details on what we collect and how we use it are in our Privacy Policy.

5. Payment, trial, and cancellation

New Gather accounts start with a 14-day trial. A valid payment method is required to start the trial — you won't be charged until day 14, and you can cancel before then at no cost. After the trial, we charge the plan you selected on a recurring monthly or annual cycle.

Prices are shown in U.S. dollars and exclude taxes where applicable. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice before a renewal; continued use after the notice period means you accept the new price.

You can cancel anytime from Settings → Billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We don't provide refunds for partial months, but we also won't charge you beyond the current period.

Payment is handled by Stripe. Online giving (when available) is also handled by Stripe under their separate terms. Kingdom never stores your card number.

6. Our intellectual property

Kingdom, Gather, Haven, Waypoint, and the associated logos and designs are our property. Your right to use them is limited to using the service. You can't copy, modify, or redistribute the software.

7. Availability and support

We aim for high availability but make no formal uptime guarantee. We'll post scheduled maintenance notices in the app or via email when possible.

Support is available by email at rickhopkins@melodic.dev. Response times vary — we're a small team doing our best.

8. Warranties and liability

Kingdom is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do our best to build something that works well and is secure, but we can't guarantee it's free of bugs or that it will always meet your specific needs.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim related to Kingdom is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect or consequential damages (lost profits, lost data, reputational harm) except where required by law.

9. Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify Kingdom from claims arising out of your use of the service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right. This includes claims from members, donors, staff, or anyone else affected by how you use the service.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email and post a notice in the app at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use after that means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the state of Michigan, United States, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any dispute that can't be resolved through good-faith conversation will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Michigan.
